Emotional Hangovers

Well, I've figured it out. Emotional hangovers last about one week after I get back from NJ and dealing with my ex and the old house. One week to shake off those patterns into which I sometimes fall. One week to shake off the self-doubt and depression. One week to remember who I am NOW and how good my life is NOW. One week to shake off the regrets and self-recriminations.

Now I can get back to my work whole heartedly. Now I can put my mind to really looking at what I want to do and have in my life. One week to be back to laughing and feeling good.

Whew!

What triggers YOUR emotional hangovers—and how long does it take YOU to get over them?

Sending blessings and safe and gentle (((((((hugs))))))),

My emotional hangovers occur when I am not allowing myself to work through my feelings. But the worst hangover occurs when I receive email or phone messages from my mother. I function much better with no contact at all.

Glad you are starting to feel like yourself again. :)

several days to a week works for us also, by then we have shook it and gotten back into our good habits and view of what life is now, instead of what it was

For some alters in here years and for the rest of us not long, we bounce back pretty good because we know we have to, perhaps the question should be what do tyou do to bounce back LOL

JIP, Great question! See my latest post for the answer...

Kahless, I decided to post about it because I think it is so common.

Strong and determined, (((Hugs))) Some mothers can be toxic. And trying to pretend out feelings don't exist doesn't work. It's looking at how we could feel and other ways to view the situation that can make a difference.

Keepers, Yes, exactly!

Enola, (((Hugs)))
