The Week That Got Away From Me

I've just had one of those weeks that got away from me. You know the kind I mean. Just when you're ready to unwind and relax you remember you have a meeting—and it's one you want to attend. Just as you sit down to write a blog post the phone rings and someone you care about needs help with something. The dog figures out how to pull down the drapes. Or your kid says, “Mom, I think I might have a concussion.”

Everything turns out okay but....the week gets away from you.

In a way it was a blessing. It reminded me to always double check what someone says—rather than just getting upset. It reminded me that much of what I often worry about turns out okay. Why put energy into worrying before I have to? And it reminded me that sometimes it's better to laugh than get angry. (The drapes went right back up with no damage.)

I was reminded that there are all sorts of possible ways to handle things and that there is rarely only one that's right. It reminded me that I can choose which one serves me—and those I love—best rather than automatically acting and reacting as I have in the past.

Here's hoping you're all having great weeks and they're not getting away from you! Sending blessings and safe and gentle (((((((hugs)))))))),

We sound like we are in similar places of healing... consistent self-reminders help me also. ;-) I hope next week feels more productive for you.

I'm glad that everything turned out okay in the end. It's so difficult to change the habit of being a worrier. It's one I struggle with much of the time.

You are so right about there frequently being more than one "right" way to handle something. That one statement said a lot.

Hopefully today you'll be able to do something relaxing just for yourself.

I hate those kind of weeks but I like the way you are choosing to handle it in a way that serves you best. We have so much more control over how our days and weeks go than we sometimes realize!

Thanks for the laughter and the way you look at things. Since I started dealing with my PTSD and Major Depression, my approach to things has changed dramatically...I'm more easy going, but no one can probably tell because I was so uptight before. So, I'm probably still considered uptight! LOL!!

Livenlaughnluv, Welcome! Thank you. And yes, this has been a good week.

Angel, Thank you. Funny isn't it how w grow up believing in limits that as adults we realize aren't real after all?

Kahless, Easy to happen this time of year, I think.

JumpinginPuddles, LOL! Well, here's to the day it doesn't!

Tamara,Yes, we do, don't we. And isn't it so empowering when we realize we do?

Clueless, Oh, you and me both! Every day it gets easier to relax but man did I have a long way to go from where I started!
